“Encompassing Communities Through Empowerment.” Once those words are spoken, one embraces the philosophical view that they can impact a life and redesign a community. To enlighten a soul through education, to demonstrate the theory to practice, and to ignite a dormant passion that inspires one person that it spreads like a consuming fire that culminates into a safe and drug free community, strong family bonding, and better schools. This is the embodiment of Mississippi Community Partnership, Inc. No one person can do it alone, but one person can strike the match that starts the fire.
So often we hear the phrases inner city, low income, and under-serve and think there’s no hope. We pretend we do not see the Broken Window’s theory dominate our neighborhoods and rob the lives of our youth and their families, and schools. This costly price of hopelessness that becomes imbedded in our youth leads to increased school dropout, substance use/abuse, teen pregnancy, underage drinking, promiscuity, and other negative decisions. In order to alter this destructive path, we must form an impermeable seal to protect our youth.
MCP’s goal is to provide the accelerants that give the power back to the community by informing the public about issues that affect them. And taking that fire and mobilizing the community into active duty. These are our families, our neighborhoods, our children therefore we must leave communities with a solidified base once we are gone. We accomplish this with devotion and passion from people who are committed to giving our neighborhoods back to our youth.
